Cousin Yoli's email to me 11/29/2011: :Also he [Maximo Garcia] told us a story about Miguel Ventura our Great Grandfather - that he got into a scuffle with Pedro Covarrubias over some maiz. As the story goes, there was a shortage of maiz that year and Pedro went to a nearby town and came back to Guatimala with some maiz. When he got to the rancho all these people came to buy maiz from him and when Miguel got there, there was no more maiz. So Miguel started to tell Pedro things and they got into a fight - they started to throw rocks at each other and Pedro threw one that hit Miguel in the mouth, knocked out 3 of his teeth and left him thrown on the ground. People gathered thinking Pedro had killed Miguel but as I wrote on Facebook no one was ever killed on the rancho de Guatimala so Miguel did not die from that fight." |
